AWARENESS EVENT ON “COMBATING ADDICTION AND THE THREAT OF ONLINE GAMBLING” HELD AT OUR FACULTY
An awareness event on Combating Addiction, the Threat of Online Gambling, and the Green Crescent was organized for first-year students who enrolled in our Faculty in the 2026–2027 academic year.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Department of Gerontology of our Faculty and the Çankırı Branch of the Turkish Green Crescent Society on 25 September 2026 at the Faculty of Health Sciences Amphitheater. It was conducted in three sessions and completed with the participation of a total of 350 students.
Within the scope of the event:
Introduction to the Green Crescent and YEDAM: The activities carried out by the Turkish Green Crescent Society and the Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM) were introduced.
Online Gambling Training: Clinical Psychologist Ayça Yurdakul delivered a training session entitled “The Threat of Online Gambling” to our students.
Communication with the Young Green Crescent Community: The Young Green Crescent Community operating at our University was introduced, enabling first-year students to meet, interact, and establish communication with student members of the community.
During the program, İsmail Özcan, President of the Çankırı Branch of the Green Crescent; Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Barış Değer, Academic Advisor of the Young Green Crescent Community; branch staff member Kadriye Bayraktar; and the President and student members of the Young Green Crescent Community delivered speeches.
The event concluded after Prof. Dr. Şinasi Aşkar, Vice Dean of our Faculty, thanked everyone who contributed to the organization and presented a certificate of appreciation to Clinical Psychologist Ayça Yurdakul, who delivered the online gambling training.
